Celebrity Tattoos: Who’s Wearing What

The beautiful and famous women in Hollywood are hitting the Red Carpet not only decorated with flowing gowns, dazzling diamonds, and brilliant jewels many are also bejeweled with colorful tattoos designs.

With the word “Tattoos” one of the top keywords searched on the Internet today, and the basis of two popular TV reality shows, it’s no surprise America’s hottest fashion runway is on fire with female celebrity tattoo designs.

Tattoo popularity began to take off after debuting on the stages of musicians and rockers, then spilling over into pop culture celebrities.

Tattoos are seen on many beautiful celebrity stars such as Drew Barrymore, Britney Spears, Charlize Theron, Gillian Anderson, Pamela Anderson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Christina Ricci, and Janet Jackson.

Oscar winners such as Marisa Tomei, Melannie Griffith, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Julia Roberts are all intriguing, fascinating, and yes tattooed. And Actresses are not the only beauties baring ink. Supermodels Christy Turlington, Stephanie Seymour, Carrie Otis and Kate Moss are all members of the celebrity tattoo club.

Hollywood’s beautiful and glamorous female celebrity tattoos are found on many areas of the body, lower back, ankles, necks, arms wrist and all of which is in between.

Foot Tattoos or “Pedi-Souvenirs” are very popular among vacationers thus as permanent mementos of a great trip. Famous tattooed tootsies included Carrie Otis, Kate Hudson, Charlize Theron, and three musically talented ladies of the Dixie Chicks.

Ankle Tattoos are very popular among supermodels. Many women prefer ankle tattoos because they can easily be shown or covered with a wardrobe change. Christy Turlington, Rebecca Romijn, Denise Richards, Christina Applegate, and Penelope Cruz are just a few lovely ladies decorated with ankle art.

Hip Tattoos are considered to be the most attractive and sensual tattoos among women. Women often wear bikinis and low cut pants displaying their designs. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon, and Drew Barrymore are among the “hippest” tattoo designs.

Lower Back Tattoos are tall on the list as a favorite body area for celebrity leading ladies. Considered one of the sexiest, sensual, areas on a woman, the lower back is also one of the most versatile places to tattoo, exposed on the beach and covered in the office. Tattoos on the lower back can be private and secretly hidden from the rest of the world, or flaunted and displayed proudly. Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, Norah Jones and Lucy Liu are names of just a few of the fabulously famous with lower back tattoos.

Wrist Tattoos are another popular area chosen among the stars. A wrist tattoo can be easily hidden under a watch or decorative bracelet if need be. Lindsay Lohan, model Sara Spraker, Carmen Electra

Upper Arm Tattoos, specifically female armband tattoos have literally come around again in popularity. In particular, Tribal Band tattoos have been increasingly in demand and more than likely have paid for a large number of artists’ Harleys parked in front of tattoo shops. Pamela Anderson helped to trigger the “band wagon” with her sexy barbwire tat.

Breast Tattoos are popular and there is a difference between chest and breast tattoos. Examples of breast tattoos are widely searched on the Internet. But if you are looking for celebrity breast tattoos look to Teri Polo, Christina Ricci, and Rapper Eve.

Neck Tattoos, were once a body area considered taboo by the majority of tattoo artists, but more recently have been increasing in numbers and showing up pushing the boundaries of what society tolerates as acceptable. Today, beauties such as Alyssa Milano, Brittany Spears, supermodel James King, and musician Kelly Clarkson are putting their necks out on the line.

Full Body Suit, was a tattoo termin the past that excluded the neck, hands, and face so when attending social functions tattoos could be “cover-up with a dress “suit” or long dress. Today, a full body suit tattoo is just that - head to toe and all of that in between. Among those daring enough to sport the “suit” are tattoo fashion icons Kat Von D and Theo Kogan.

Young People Remake Men’s Suits

In a few years’ time, male teens ended up changing the way society sees the men’s suit: imbued with a conservative and corporate spirit. Who would have imagined that teeners in their 20s would be the ones to develop a taste for blazers, sports jackets, and above all, luxury men’s suits?

But why not? Apparently, marketing of luxury men’s wear has successfully reached teeners effectively, from the papers they read to the websites they visit. These gentlemen are most likely into college work or some new venture that favored rugged dot-com boom-era casual dressing. Things have changed though; these young men picked up the fashion information and have come to see no problem in dressing up and enjoying it. Blame David Beckham all you want, but to look good doesn’t have to be a chore. If one wants to live up to this dress code, then it’s not just counting cotton shirts and cute unmatching socks as part of one’s already-haves; one has to watch out for the lifestyle itself.

Anyway, it must indeed have been the metrosexual revolution, wherein nobody gave a thought to guys shaving their legs, buying fashion magazines or shopping for home decors.

What’s even more interesting is that the young are looking not for what their fathers wear. They are instead after form-fitting jackets; shirts with narrower dimensions and skinnier pants and ties. For all these, we certainly can lay the blame on Mr. Thom Browne. The fashion iconoclast is celebrated for bringing on as norms shrunken men’s jackets and high-waisted pants that show ankles. And we haven’t even touched on his advice of tucking the knotted tie into the trousers when wearing the short suits.

To top all of this, I read somewhere that when it comes to advertising men’s wear, a suit will always be a reliable gentleman’s suit of armor. Young people are basically admitting that suits exude confidence responsibility, and trust, needed very much nowadays in the aftermath of corporate scandals.

So indeed its time to shed the images of those golden bronze demigods clad in pristine three piece suits, and the other extreme of disheveled models who are nowhere near selling suits on magazine ads, where it not for the fact that the suit’s logo declared so. Let’s bring on the “real” men who will show us that men’s suits are suits not only meant for real men, but for youngsters too, who have outgrown an all-jeans wardrobe and will risk things with skinny trousers.

750 UK Workers Made Redundant By Capital One

750 people are facing the axe as Capital One decides to cut jobs in its UK head office. The office which currently has 1,750 members of staff is located in Nottingham. It has been the US companies headquarters since opening in 1998. It has been announced that the cuts will mostly affect call centre, account servicing and support staff. Most of these positions will be outsourced to India and other countries. Nottingham City council has said that although the cuts are bad news Capital One will still be a big player in Nottingham and that this at least, is a good thing.

In a Business Week article an excerpt from an email which Srini Gopalan, UK company head, sent to employees was quoted: “I am confident that the business model we are moving towards will allow us greater opportunity to bring our costs in line with our competitors so that we are able to compete more effectively and efficiently in the U.K. credit card market.” The credit card firm has promised to help those who have been made redundant to find new positions.

Following the other job cuts which the company has planned, the credit card giant expects to have just 27,000 employees worldwide. The purposes cited for cutting so many jobs is one of economic competitiveness. However, these cuts come at a time when the economy is in crisis and large investment banks are also making job cuts. Mortgages are being pulled off the market and redundancy statistics are high.

The American parent company of the credit card firm has reportedly set aside huge amounts of money to cover bad assets in the swell of the credit crisis. Nevertheless, in an article on the This Is Nottingham website a member of staff from the operations department said: “This is not about the credit crunch, this is about continuing to deliver great products and services and keeping us cost competitive.”

In the same article it was revealed that: “When the company, reported its earnings for the final quarter of 2007, they showed a substantial increase in money set aside for worldwide losses on loans - up to 1.2bn dollars from 595m dollars the previous quarter.” Regardless of whether the cuts are to improve the companies competitiveness in the market or to help the firm deal with bad assets, staff at the firm who are facing redundancy will have a 3 month consultation process which Capital One hopes will help them to move on successfully.

In a BBC article Srini Gopalan, head of Capital One Bank (Europe) plc, said: “Whilst this was a difficult decision for the UK management team, it is recognised that this is part of the ongoing effort to ensure the business framework is in a place that supports an overall competitive strategy in the UK market.”

Nottingham City’s council leader Jon Collins also said: “Nottingham City Council, with our partners, will work with Capital One to provide additional support that will help affected employees find their way into appropriate, alternative employment as soon as possible.”

Capital One is not the first financial firm this year to cut jobs and as credit problems go unresolved and house prices plummet chances are it will not be the last.

Rock & Roll Philosophy

It was the summer I turned eight. Cable television had just come to the Engel household… and I was milking it for all it was worth!

My quickly expanding butt was planted in front of the tube, day in and day out. Grease 2? Saw it 16 times. Star Wars? 28 times. But Rocky III was the grand champeen for the summer, weighing in at a whopping 38 views!

Rocky? Did someone say Rocky? Dun duntta dun duntta dun duntta dun. I can hear you humming along! Don’t deny it!

It’s almost biological, isn’t it? Someone mentions the word “Rocky” and that song springs to mind. Whether it was Gonna Fly Now (the true title to the dun duntta dun song) or the more popular Eye of the Tiger, the music was always the catalyst for Rocky to pummel some mere mortal boxer into a puddle of human pulp.

There’s hardly anyone who doesn’t associate these songs with tapping into inner strength, pushing the envelope to the outermost limits, and gaining strength and momentum. Are we just that classically conditioned? That similar to one of Pavlov’s pups? Simple answer? Yes!

I draw strength and inspiration from a lot of places, and yes, one of them is watching old Rocky flicks. But there are tons of other sources of strength. Friends and family, of course. Listening to wisdom passed down from those with more life experience or different perspectives than me. And sometimes those insights come from a certain stranger who continually provides a steady stream of truth. This person says things that speak to my heart and constantly help shape my attitudes and my life. Listen to some of the thoughts of my favorite philosopher:

You’ve got to learn to live with what you can’t rise above.

It ain’t no sin to be glad you’re alive.

Fear is a powerful thing, it’ll turn your heart black, you can trust.

Every fool’s got a reason for feeling sorry for himself.

These are some of my phrases to live by. Have you guessed who uttered such profound insight? Aristotle? Plato? The Bible? Yoda? Nope. None other than the Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen.

Bruce’s lyrics not only have an effect on me that is emotional, but one that’s intellectual as well. His words contain a philosophy of empowerment and reality, mixed with the idea that everything is possible through imagination and hard work. Simply put, his lyrics just make sense.

During many difficult times, I’ve flipped on a Springsteen CD, listened to the lyrics, and found inspiration to live my best life. Maybe it’s the emotions of his guitar or the tenor of his voice, or, more likely, it’s the way I apply his lyrics to my life.

Last week I was privy to a real-life miracle. The cosmos aligned, my travel schedule worked perfectly, the gods smiled upon me and I got to see Bruce Springsteen in concert at Madison Square Garden!

Then, when we got to the show, the REAL miracle happened! Wristbands were attached and a guard led us down into the orchestra pit; closer and closer and closer until we were a mere 30 feet from the man himself, so close I could hear the whiz of middle aged women’s underwear as they flew by my head (Ha! Get it? Whiz?!)

I’m not just a fan of Bruce, but his lyrical philosophies have impacted my life in oh so many ways. So for me, this show was almost like a trip to the holy land. And ya know the weirdest part of it all? Bruce Springsteen has no earthly idea who I am nor how deeply he’s touched my life. He doesn’t know the first thing about Marcus Engel, but that doesn’t change the effect he’s had on me.

This idea always makes me pause. Do you and I have the power to be like Bruce? To have far reaching influence on others? Much more far reaching than we’ll ever know? The answer is YES! And that’s some powerful stuff, don’t ya think?

Whose lives do we have the opportunity to touch? What insights and lessons and encouragements are ours alone to pass along? Are we making the most of the chance we have to positively affect others? Who, right now, needs something you have to offer?

These are the questions I ask myself every day. Not because I’m growing my business, not because I want accolades, not because I want women’s drawers whizzing at my head, but just because it’s the power I have to help change part of the world.

You don’t need to be on stage at the Garden to inspire others. Don’t wait for the perfect opportunity, just get out there and live YOUR best life now, and just watch, you’ll effect someone!

Cheap Home Alternatives to Off the Wall Bridal Makeovers

Every woman hits a crossroad when that fateful day arrives, and someone she loves puts a ring on her finger. As she peeks over the threshold at the daunting, exhilarating, endless year ahead, she’ll probably spend some time pondering how to fine-tune her look — for posterity, you know. After all, this will be her red carpet moment, and she’ll be paying the photographer an awful lot to capture it.

At this point, some brides will go totally over-the-top. By that, we mean bridal boot camps and personal trainers named Reinhold. Brides with even less of a rudder will apply to one of the emerging reality TV programs, such as Britain’s “Bride and Grooming,” where “lively couples” go under the knife, turning Roman noses into cute little Irish ones, lifting those baggy eyelids and of course, getting their teeth done.

Chances are, you’re not like that. You want to look your best, but you also want to look back on this year and remember your grip on sanity. And if you’re like me, you don’t have a lot to spend on “Exxtreem Makeovers” anyway. Which is fine, because a couple of bucks here and a couple of bucks there can pack quite a punch … without making you look like a stranger.

Fuller Lips — the Reality TV Approach

Puff up your lips with various temporary injections, or more permanent Gore-Tex implants. Costs: $200-2000 for “injectables”; $1000-3000 for implants.

Fuller Lips — the Sane Way

Almost all women — especially we hopelessly Caucasian types — wish we had fuller lips. We know this because of all the droopy “trout pouts” that show up on rising and fading Hollywood stars, no matter how goofy they look.

The sane bride can plump up her lips at home for a fairly small investment. No, we’re not talking do-it-yourself collagen implants. We’re talking CityLips, the only lip plumper we’ve tried that works.

Don’t get excited (or alarmed) — you’ll never get Angelina Jolie results with lip serums. And in fact, anecdotal evidence suggests that CityLips won’t work for everyone. But it works for us, unlike anything else we’ve tried. Yes, there are a number of effective plumpers that temporarily irritate and swell the lip tissue, but CityLips actually plumps the collagen through some mysterious mechanism instead of merely irritating your lips. It takes about 30 days to work.

So where to buy your lip-plumping secret weapon? We tried eBay, but we didn’t get much of a discount. We did learn to avoid buying the mini tubes, since much of the serum gets stuck in the bottom.

Instead, we found the best deal was to sign-up for the newsletter at www.citylips.com directly. Every so often, they put out a “buy 2, get 1 free” deal that’s music to our ears, or they offload a less popular color at a great price. Sure, you might end up with psychedelic purple gloss, but who cares? It’s CityLips!

Whiter Teeth — the Reality TV Approach

Plant your derrière in a dental chair. Prop your mouth open for one hour while the dentist turns your teeth into an approximation of the polar caps (pre-global warming) using a peroxide-based solution and a laser. Costs: $800-2000.

Whiter Teeth — the Sane Way

Dentists have long given up the rap that you have hit the office to whiten your teeth. We all know you can do it at home. The best way?

The overwhelming consensus is Crest Whitestrips.

You have plenty of choices — peroxide-based gels and trays you fit to your teeth at home are easy to come by. But they’re uncomfortable, not very strong, and they make you drool. Crest Whitestrips have none of these drawbacks, and many people find they work better anyway.

Want to get them cheap? Buy them on eBay. Buy them even cheaper by choosing a slightly older product, like plain old Whitestrips instead of Whitestrips Premium or Premium Plus. They go for a song. What a deal. Forget the whitening toothpastes; they don’t work.

One more note on teeth — sometimes it does make sense to get a little work done. To wit:

A Sad, Sad Tooth Story

When I was a child, I had a diastema — a gap between my front teeth, like Madonna. It was kind of cute. But my parents took me to an orthodontist for surgery. He fixed the gap, but didn’t use braces. So my formerly straight-as-an-arrow teeth lost the gap, but grew in crooked. My sadistic parents stopped there, leaving me with awful, inward-pointing front teeth until I left home.

In college, I found I could finally fix the problem with a few inexpensive veneers. Veneers look terrific, and if you only need a few, the costs can be reasonable. If you had sadistic parents or a few problem teeth, this stretch before your wedding might be a good time to look at veneers.

Forehead Wrinkles — the Reality TV Approach

Botox, duh. Costs: $400 a session.

Forehead Wrinkles — the Sane Way

You’re young, right? You’re not a chain smoker or former tanning booth marathon champion. You shouldn’t have forehead wrinkles, yet you do. In fact, there’s this big one right in the middle, one that seemed to pop up the very day he popped the question. Where did it come from, and how can you punish its sender?

It’s likely it comes from your habit of indulging in pained expressions. Yes, pained expressions are appropriate when you’re planning a wedding. But they lead to hyper-developed forehead muscles and that weird line right in the middle, and you really don’t want to resort to bangs, right?

Train yourself to stop frowning. In the privacy of your own home, slap a big old piece of tape on your forehead. It will remind you. Don’t forget to remove it when you head to the gym or that upscale whole foods store.

A Few More Champagne Tips for the Beer Budget Crowd

The Hair

If you have a thick, umber mane like Cindy Crawford’s, just leave it alone. But if you’re a dishwater blond like me — and you know who you are — look into some coloring or a few subtle highlights.

Another tip: don’t try to look like someone else for your wedding day. If you wear your hair short and sporty, don’t grow it long “just for your wedding.” You’ll look much more fabulous as yourself.

The Skin

Sometimes a glycolic peel is a great way to freshen up your skin and get an extra glow. You don’t need to book the dermatologist; you can do this at home.

Actually, brave brides can buy extremely strong TCA peels from eBay (at their own risk). I wouldn’t do this less than six months before your wedding, and I wouldn’t do it if you have a risk-averse personality. Oh, and the top layer of your skin will peel off a few days after you apply the product. This can freak out your friends.

It’s easy to find gentle glycolic peels on the shelves of any drugstore. I found L’oreal’s ReNoviste on sale the other day, and I liked the results.

The Oddball Dietary Suggestion

Everyone knows you’ll look better if you exercise during the wedding prep phase, and strive to avoid the “french fries and diet coke” diet. But another trick you might want to try is dumping dairy. Many people have a lactose intolerance without even knowing it, and that can lead to indigestion, black circles under the eyes, and other subtle beauty-busters.

No other animal drinks milk after its infancy … much less milk designed for a totally different animal. Only we do that. Try life without milk for a few weeks, and see if you don’t perk up.

Starting a Prenatal Care Regimen

If you recently have learned that you are pregnant, you need to begin the process of creating and implementing a proper prenatal care regimen. Through this article you will be provided with the tips and pointers that you need to bear well in mind when it comes to starting (and following through with) a prenatal care regimen.

The first step that you must take when it comes to initiating a prenatal care regimen is to schedule a consultation with your doctor or OBG-YN. Your doctor must be closely involved in your overall prenatal care program. Of course, your doctor plays a huge role in medical decisions associated with your pregnancy, but your doctor also has a crucial role to play when it comes to other aspects of your pregnancy, including nutrition and exercise.

One aspect of your prenatal care regimen will involve your doctor directly. Your doctor will develop a general schedule for visits with him or her. He or she will also generally plan out when you will have other medical procedures and tests undertaken as part of your pregnancy experience - including such things as an ultrasound.

Another aspect of the prenatal regimen will be developing a diet plan for the course of your pregnancy. Nutrition related issues are crucial to your health and the health of your baby when you are pregnant. Therefore, your doctor will work with you on developing a nutrition plan for your pregnancy.

There are other resources that are available to you as well when it comes to nutrition planning for your pregnancy. For example, there are nutritionists that specifically work to provide assistance to women who are pregnant. Moreover, there are some wonderful resources on the Internet and World Wide Web that are ideal for a pregnant woman looking for guidance when it comes to nutrition issues.

In addition, most medical experts and nutritionists tend to recommend certain nutritional supplements for a pregnant woman. Of course, maintaining a balanced diet is the fundamental course a pregnant woman needs to take. However, nutritional supplements can play a helpful role in a pregnancy. This particularly can be the case if a woman is experiencing pregnancy nausea (commonly called morning sickness) and who is finding it hard to keep down food.

As part of planning your prenatal regimen, exercise will also be a part of your considerations. Experts agree that appropriate exercise is essential when it comes to having a healthy pregnancy, when it comes to maintaining your own health and when it comes to the health of your unborn baby. There are now solid resources online and in the brick and mortar world through which you can obtain helpful information to aid you in coming up with an exercise program that will be perfect for you during the course and term of your pregnancy.

By starting to a prenatal regimen that involves the elements discussed in this article early on, and by sticking to that regimen throughout the term of your pregnancy, you will be in the best possible position to enjoy good health and to give birth to a healthy baby.

Arizona Highway Construction a Major Project

For thousands of Arizona commuters, the drive to work is already long enough. With traffic snarls a regular occurrence, the last thing they want to hear is their commute will take even longer. However, if they take Interstate 10 to work, that is exactly what may be happening. Plans are in place to widen I-10, which will mean the sight of the temporary highway barrier will become a common one. These barriers are used when traffic is diverted to a road that doesn’t normally house two-way traffic. For instance, if construction begins on a two-lane highway, workers will begin on one side of the road. On the other side, a barrier will be put up, essentially turning the road into a one-lane highway. In the short-term, this will make traffic much worse. If the road is widened, however, the construction will open things up considerably.

The Phoenix precast concrete market is a fairly robust one, with the boom of construction in the past few years. There are all sorts of projects that require precast concrete, from commercial to residential projects. And with all the new infrastructure that has been built, there is a big demand for concrete. The same is true for road construction. When a large stretch of highway is being created, if traffic is being diverted, those barriers may be needed. If the project is several miles long, you can imagine what sort of demand that will bring. Of course, in some cases these barriers are totally necessary. A simple traffic cone or barrel may not be enough. With a barrier, the chance of a car coming from the opposite direction and crossing into oncoming traffic is basically none.

While the local department of transportation will likely have some barriers in inventory, for a massive project, they may not have enough to meet the demand. And if there are simply too many projects, that can increase demand past the supply as well. And if you’re talking about I-10, Phoenix is not the only city that is potentially affected by construction. The highway goes through Tucson as well, so Tucson precast concrete may see a spike if construction makes its way there. Of course, residents of Tucson may not want construction to get that far. After all, even though it is nice when it is done, taking twice as long every day to get to work isn’t something that most people would look forward to.

When you deal with Jensen Precast, you know you’re getting quality products because precast concrete is all we do. We can satisfy your needs for a variety of construction projects, including road construction that needs a concrete highway barrier. No matter your location, whether phoenix precast concrete projects or tucson precast concrete, Jensen Precast is your source.
